About

Hi! My name is Anika (rhymes with harmonica), and I'm an electrical engineer and ocean scientist from Beaverton, Oregon. I recently graduated from the University of Alabama (B.S. Electrical Engineering, 2024), and I'm currently a Mitchell Scholar at University College Cork in Ireland. After returning to the States in Fall 2025, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in underwater acoustics and applied ocean science/ocean engineering.

As an undergraduate researcher, I helped develop a custom instrument to measure the fracture toughness of marine sediments and a compact acoustic modem based on open-source electronics. As a NOAA Hollings scholar, I also worked with NOAA Ocean Exploration to study the midwater fauna of a submarine canyon using split-beam multi-frequency acoustics and ROV dive footage.

Aside from research, I love music (piano, violin, viola, theremin), fantasy novels, amateur radio (KJ7JBA), and art.

Thanks for stopping by :)
